30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 6

Growing up, I was the only girl in the family. There was my little brother, two male cousins on Dad’s side, and two male cousins on Mom’s side.

It was a hard life.

Okay, it really wasn’t that bad. Once I convinced my cousins to let me paint their nails and toenails. What can I say? I was desperate. When I was 13-years-old, however, my Aunt Melinda and Uncle Larry announced they were going to have another baby. I was convinced that this one was going to be a girl. I mean, come on, had I not suffered enough? 🙂

Thankfully I was right. On July 18, 2004, Hannah Grace entered the world.

Finally.

Of course, being the only girl, I held the spotlight for 13 glorious years. She stole it. I’ve gotten over that now (kind of). Papaw also built her a really big doll house, but I’m not bitter about that or anything. (Well, not really bitter.)

Hannah is one of my most favorite people. She has a special place in my heart because she is what I wanted and prayed about for a very long time. She’s growing up a bit too fast for my liking. I said a few months ago that it’s like she’s a real person now—she’ll be a teenager before we know it. For day 6, I’m thankful for my sweet, bratty, lovable cousin. 🙂
